No special preparation is required. You may be asked to remove jewellery, glasses, or dentures before the scan. Please inform our team if you are pregnant or may be pregnant.
Your imaging technician will guide you through the process, ensuring you’re positioned correctly for the best possible images.
You’ll be positioned with your chin on a small rest while the machine rotates around your head. The scan takes around 20 seconds and is entirely painless. You’ll need to remain still during the rotation to ensure a clear image is captured.
Most OPG procedures take less than ten minutes from beginning to end.
Once complete, you can resume normal activities straight away. Your scan will be reviewed by a Specialist Radiology Group radiologist, with a detailed report sent to your referring practitioner—typically within 24 hours.
